Description

This is a lovely pair of French antique opera glasses dating between ca. 1890 and ca. 1900. The “CHEVALIER * PARIS” signature on each eyepiece refers to an optical firm that was begun by Louis Vincent Chevalier in 1765 and still in the business in the late 19th century. The Smithsonian National Museum of American History has a few pairs of Chevalier Opera Glasses in their collection. Perfect piece to add to your collection!
